Joy Rankothge is Chief Representative for South Korea at Export Development Canada (EDC), where he leads EDC’s business activities to strengthen bilateral trade and investment between Canada and South Korea. He also supports EDC’s broader Indo-Pacific strategy and regional engagement.
Joy brings nearly 20 years of Asia-Pacific and international experience across financial services, strategy, and advisory sectors. Prior to his current role, he was based in EDC’s Singapore office, where he led the development of EDC’s Indo-Pacific strategy, including the organization’s approach to South Korea. He also served as EDC’s Chief Representative for Southeast Asia.
Earlier in his career, Joy held leadership roles at EDC’s Economic and Political Intelligence Centre (EPIC) from 2010 to 2017. He also worked at Moody’s Investors Service and Deloitte Consulting, and co-founded Country Acuity Advisors, a Singapore-based advisory firm focused on Asia.
Joy holds a Master of Arts in International Relations and Economic Law and Business from The Fletcher School at Tufts University, including coursework at Harvard Business School, and a Bachelor of Arts from Knox College.
